The data presented were obtained from research institutions that specialize in the subject, and constitute a scenario of the sector. The proposal is to enable students to analyze prospects for continued investment, either from the private or public sector. The dilemma presented puts students in the position of mill owners, who must decide in which of the products derived from sugar cane to invest: sugar, ethanol, bioelectricity or product diversification, higher value-added and/or environmentally friendly, as in the case of bioplastics. Abstract
This Teaching Case aims to explore the prospects of a sugar and alcohol cluster in São Paulo in 2012, focusing on perspectives relating to market fluctuations and how they affect the development of hightech product portfolios.
