Casos para Ensino: O Caso da Rua Azambuja: Ascensão e Queda

Abstract

The case presents the history of Azambuja Street located in Brusque-SC, Brazil, which in the 1980s experienced the founding of several garment manufacturers and stores who both produced and delivered the goods to the customer, contributing to the city becoming known as the capital of prompt delivery. The history of Azambuja Street starts with the emergence of trade in wholesale clothing and also a history of entrepreneurship and strategic adaptation. The case’s educational objectives can be outlined as follows: (a) understand the impact in organizations generated by changes in the economy, (b) analyze the process of strategic adaptation in the case, (c) relate the context of strategic adaptation to a practical example of entrepreneurship. The case can be used in undergraduate and graduate Business Administration programs, to cover issues relating to management, strategy and entrepreneurship. Primary data obtained through semi-structured interviews were supplemented by secondary data obtained through web research.
