Eulogio Payán y las fronteras pampeanas del siglo XIX. Un ensayo de microhistoria

Abstract

This article deals with the representations and political practices of the neighbor, land owner and juez de paz Eulogio Payan in the north and west area of the Buenos Aires frontier with the indigenous territories, through the identification and analysis of the initiatives that he carried out with the government of Buenos Aires throughout the decades of 1850 and 1860. The main results shows that the improve of the political and military administration, the private property of the land and the frontier advance were key axes of Payan's initiatives and where he built and exercised a significant political power.
