Abstract

The article presents selected results of a survey on attitudes towards languages which was carried out among students of the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universitat Munchen studying German as a second language to be teachers at German schools. Among the aspects treated are the following: length of studying the language concerned and of being familiar with the subject of “multilingualism” respectively, opinions on different factors having an influence on the reputation of languages, reasons for choosing Turkish as a “partner language” in their course of studies, perception of the sound structure as well as the assumed and experienced level of difficulty of the language studied.
