Based on the Russian Federal Educational Standard of Higher Education and the Educational Standard of Lomonosov Moscow State University, the authors of the article describe the main components of the language teacher’s research competences. The content of researcher training is outlined for the second, third and fourth year of the BA-programmes and the two years of the MA-programmes. The article also suggests research competences assessment procedures and tools. Abstract
