This paper details the content of the 1965–1972 Porcel dossier, kept by the repressive Francoist regime, and compares it with a detailed analysis of his non-fiction works during that period. The main purpose of this paper is to present the intellectual project designed by Porcel in a context of new awareness of the situation and a general debate regarding Catalonia’s position and role in Spain. Porcel’s published books (travel, interviews, literary articles, columns, essays) can be used to identify more precisely his ideological affiliation during the late Francoist era. Porcel was clearly not a “separatist”.
