Abstract

Postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) is a significant complication that affects patient comfort, with an average rate of 30% in surgical patients and up to 80% in the high-risk groups (1). This condition can be extremely stressful and is directly associated with patient satisfaction. It may further lead to additional problems such as significantly longer postanesthesia care unit stays, unexpected hospitalization of outpatients, impaired surgical success, and increased healthcare costs (1).
