Abstract
Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) have received a great deal of attention over the past few years, with the most attention given to tradable tokens linked with digital art. The applications may seem limited because most of the discussion about NFTs has been about the superficial contents of the tokens (for example, why are people trading digital monkey pictures?) without a discussion of the underlying technology.
