However, by early second trimester there had been a sharp increase in the abundance and length of these fibrillin-containing microfibrils. These observations are consistent with early second trimester being a key phase of fibrillin assembly. In the third trimester, fibrillin-containing microfibrils were frequently isolated in association with amorphous material.
