Abstract

Documentation (niod) in Amsterdam offer an insight into attempts to prevent Jeremias Meijer Hillesum (b. 1863) and Isaac Leo Seeligmann (b. 1907), two of the leading figures at the Bibliotheca Rosenthaliana,1 from being deported or sent to a labour camp. They were written by Rev. W. ten Boom and Prof. T.C. Vriezen and are symbolic of the efforts of a section of Holland's non-Jewish population to come to the aid of Jews during the Second World War.
