Abstract
The county courthouse of the Central Plains contain a vast and diverse collection of valuable, but rarely used, historical sources—sources which could contribute significantly to our understanding of the social, economic, legal and political development of the region. This article is intended to acquaint the reader with the most important holding of these unique local archives. It offers a brief tour through a typical plains county courthouse, descriptions of the records available in each office, and suggestions for their use.
