Abstract
Non-work-related computing (NWRC) represents a broad research area that attempts to understand the psychology of employee misuse of information resources. In this article, we review studies that have addressed NWRC issues in relation to job dimensions and work outcomes. Current research is matched with the job characteristics model to identify areas that have been studied and those that have not. We find that current research has addressed the interrelationship among NWRC and six job dimensions and three work outcomes. Job feedback and employee motivation, performance, and turnover provide opportunities for future research.
