Abstract
The role of the family is very important in the stages of health care, starting from the stages of improving health, prevention, treatment, to rehabilitation. The busyness of the family makes support for stroke patients during the recovery period reduced , especially the low motivation to undergo physiotherapy, so that stroke patients feel grieved because their loved ones are not willing to help with healing. Stroke makes patients feel disabled, impaired self-image, inadequate, ugly, embarrassed. This study aims to determine the relationship between family support and motivation to perform physiotherapy in stroke patients. The design of this research is correlation with cross sectional approach. Stroke patient population in Neurology and Physiotherapy Dr. Hardjono Ponorogo from January to July 2020 as many as 2029 patients with an average monthly rate of 290 patients with a sample size o f 58 respondents. Sampling using purposive sampling. The technique of collecting data used a questionnaire and analyzed using the Chi Square Test of α 0.05. The results of the study on the variable family support for stroke patients, most of the 37 respondent s (63.8%) had positive family support. In the motivation variable, most of the 35 respondents (60.3%) had high motivation. Based on the ChiSquare statistical test, it was found that the value = 0.000 was smaller than α = 0.05, meaning that Ho was rejected, meaning that there was a relationship between family support and motivation to undergo physiotherapy in post-stroke patients. Based on the results of the study, it was concluded that there was a relationship between family support and motivation to undergo physiotherapy f or poststroke patients, the lower the family support, the lower the motivation to undergo physiotherapy and vice versa, the researchers suggested the hospital as a public health facility by placing a picture or banner about the importance of family support and physiotherapy stroke.
