Abstract
Ocean wave energy is one of the most promising renewable energy resources that were less explored due to their large-scale industrial limitations. Due to the technical constraints related to the experimental designs, this paper demonstrates a method to simulate a heaving wave energy converter and connecting it to electrical circuitry to rectify the induced voltage. This paper also demonstrates a method to implement control strategies in the wave energy converter (WEC) using the six switches in an active rectifier for controlling the current in a power-take-off device. This can be done by converting the control methods using field-oriented control. In this paper, two examples of control strategies are implemented, namely, resistive loading and approximated complex conjugate.
