Abstract

In this paper we present an experimental method of determining losses caused by 1D gratings based on applying those gratings as output couplers of THz lazers. Firstly we experimentally determined the optimal coupling coefficient for two types of gratings: wire gratings and strip gratings on dielectric substrates. Therefore we determined the value of total losses in laser cavity for each researched grating. Comparing these results it is possible to determine the losses caused by specific grating.
