Abstract

The focus article summarizes electrophysiological data obtained with systematic recordings in supraspinal central nervous system structures (essentially thalamus and somatosensory cortex) of rat models of inflammatory pain (rats rendered poly-arthritic by injection of Freund's) adjuvant into the tail or injected with carrageenin into one hind-paw). The study has been performed in parallel with behavioral and pharmacological tests to emphasize the functional value of the neuronal response.
