Abstract
Systemic lupus erythematosus is chronic autoimmune disorder with variable clinical presentations and multi-organ involvement. The disease has female predominance and unpredictable course. was to measure platelet to lymphocyte, neutrophil to lymphocyte ratios in patients with lupus nephritis. This study was conducted on patients of lupus nephritis either in Nephrology clinic& Dialysis unit or admitted as inpatient in Ain Shams university Hospitals. For 60 Patients as two groups; the first group includes 30 SLE patients with ESRD. The second group includes of 30 lupus, and 3rd group 30 control healthy group. A highly significant difference was observed between lupus nephritis patients and healthy controls regarding neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (p < 0.001) In conclusion, NLR appear to be potentially useful biomarkers in lupus nephritis patients for disease activity and damage-compared with the other inflammatory cytokines as IL-6. Being easily obtained and cheap, they can be applied as predictors of not only disease activity and damage but also relapse and remission in lupus nephritis patients before applying other expensive and invasive measures. Dangerous disease activity and flares in SLE are unpredictable and represent a challenge in clinical practice.
