Abstract
Iodinated contrast media (ICM) were introduced into clinical practice to improve both diagnostic imaging and therapeutic procedures. Current ICM formulations are based on tri-iodobenzoic acid ring. Incidence of adverse reactions (AR) to ICM was 15% in 1975, but nowadays it has been reduced to 3% by using low-osmolarity and non-ionic ICM.
