Abstract

A União Europeia enfrenta atualmente uma tempestade perfeita provocada por inúmeros acontecimentos que desafiam sua estabilidade e coesão social. Na introdução deste ensaio, são apresentados os principais debates acadêmicos sobre a relação entre identidades nacionais e uma identidade europeia potencialmente emergente. Já a segunda e terceira parte do ensaio são destinadas a analisar dois dos maiores desafios que a União Europeia enfrenta: o chamado novo nacionalismo ou neonacionalismo e o new authoritarianism, com a multiplicação de partidos de extrema-direita. Nas considerações finais, é destacado o fato de que a identificação nacional e o orgulho nacional aumentam a probabilidade de votar em um partido de direita radical europeu.Palavras-chave: neonacionalismo; extrema-direita; União Europeia.ABSTRACTThe European Union is currently facing a perfect storm caused by numerous events that challenge its stability and social cohesion. In the introduction to this essay, the main academic debates on the relationship between national identities and a potentially emerging European identity are presented. The second and third parts of the essay are intended to analyze two of the biggest challenges facing the European Union: the so-called new nationalism or neo-nationalism and the new authoritarianism, with the multiplication of far-right parties.
