Abstract
The photograph on the cover was taken with a low-cost digital camera using the method described by E. J. Milton in this issue (pages 1001–1007), which avoids many of the limitations of infrared sensitive lm and produces excellent results rapidly and at low cost. The method is only suitable for static objects, as shown by the wind-induced colour fringes around the leaves on the tree in the foreground and the fact that the duck in the lower-right of the picture is not present in the nearinfrared image.
