Abstract
Wind turbines play an important role in energy generation using renewable sources. The wind is very changeable, and such turbines require techniques for finding and tracking maximum power density. The presented work includes an overview of maximum power point tracking techniques applicable to small-size wind turbines based on the Magnus effect. An overview of existing algorithms is presented. Overviewed algorithms are assessed using a simulation in MATLAB with a model of the experimental Magnus effect wind turbine.
