Although ecocriticism developed as a literary field in the late twentieth century, the world of nature had already begun to go through deterioration way before that. The Industrial revolution of the nineteenth century can be called the major cause behind the deterioration of the natural world. The poetry of Dickinson raises the awareness among the readers about safeguarding the natural world by depicting the harmony between nature and human beings coupled with the awe for nature. The paper attempts to explore the ecological consciousness that lies in the nature poems of Dickinson. The poetry embodies the harmony between nature and human beings.
