Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the quality of water samples from Nnewi and Awka areas and to ascertain their health risk and safety for human consumption. In this study the Canadian Council Water Quality Index [CCME WQI] methodology was used to determine borehole, well, and rainwater samples collected from Awka and Nnewi towns of Anambra. Nine parameters were used for the evaluation, namely: pH, electrical conductivity [EC], nitrates [NO3-], sulphates [SO42-], chlorides [Cl-], Copper [Cu], Iron [Fe], Lead [Pb] and Zinc [Zn] from 60 water samples.
