Alongside the need for efficient video compression, there is a critical requirement for error resilience, in particular in association with wireless networks which are characterized by highly dynamic variations in error rate and bandwidth. Compression techniques based on prediction and variable-length coding render an encoded bit stream highly sensitive to channel errors. In the paper, techniques such as pyramid vector quantization (PVQ) have been implemented for increasing the ability to prevent error propagation through the use of fixed-length codeword in the Wireless Environment.
