Abstract

Sulfur attack in aero engines and salt attack in marine engines are recurring problems. The effects, mechanism and prevention of sulfur attack in aero engines is discussed. The mechanism for sea salt attack on marine turbine blades is proposed and the results of tests designed to cure the trouble are presented.
