We propose that it arises from the disorder effect by chemical doping. The interplay between superconductivity (SC) and the charge density wave (CDW)-like order in CuIr2Te4 is systematically explored through Se substitution for Te site through the powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), magnetic susceptibility, resistivity measurements and heat capacity. CuIr2Te4-XSex (0 ≤ x ≤ 0.5) compounds retain the same structure as the host CuIr2Te4. The unit cell parameters a and c decrease linearly with increasing Se content.
