Abstract
The poverty of electrical energy (PEe) has been a relevant issue in the design and implementation of public policies considering both the importance of the production and distribution of this good in the economy and the implications for maintaining the purchasing power of consumers' income. In several cases, instead of alleviating it, the well-being of the people has deteriorated sharply despite the efforts made by almost all the countries of the world in this concrete case. The greatest challenge, without a doubt, has been the management inefficient of the subsidies granted to energy resources with the purpose of reorienting them and focusing them on the support of households in situations of vulnerability and marginalization. This work has the objective of making an estimate of the possible increase in the poverty rates of electricity, because of the anticipated elimination of subsidies based on the figures of income per decile. According to the calculations carried out, this increase would correspond to a total of approximately 48,803 households in extreme electrical poverty and 289,509 in the relative situation, the majority of which are situated in rural localities.
