On examination, the interincisal opening was 28 mm with pain in the left TMJ. There was no joint noise in the affected joint or preauricular swelling. Conventional radiographic examination showed a normal appearance in the left joint. Arthrography of the left TMJ revealed anterior displacement of the disk without reduction. Arthroscopy of the superior compartment of the left TMJ revealed small nodules on the synovium of the mandibular fossa and a loose body in the anterior recess. The nodules and loose body were removed arthroscopically. Abstract
