Abstract

The paper presents the description and results of model experiments carried out, at zero forward speed, for determining the roll-damping qualities of continuous bilge keels and of short wings, installed in a staggered row along the ship. The damping qualities of the short wings roll stabilizer (SWIRS) were investigated also at forward motion of the ship, using additional experimental data and the more exact calculation method of the SWIRS effectiveness. The presented experimental results and the performed analysis of roll stabilizers can be useful in further investigations and design of new vessels.
