They change in volume considerably with changes in moisture content. These soils are characterized by the presence of a large proportion of highly active clay minerals of the montmorillonite group which are responsible for the pronounced volume change capability of the soils. The objective of this paper is to investigate the influence of different polymers on the plasticity properties of swelling clays.
