Abstract

According to the UN, slightly less than 1 billion people are functioning without electricity and 50% of them are found in sub-Saharan Africa alone. Increased use of renewable energy is crucial to creating more sustainable communities that are resilient to environmental issues like climate change as well as to improving the quality of life through access to clean electricity.
