Abstract

This paper shows a novel tactic developed for linearizing the allpass phase-filter (APPF) design problem. After formulating the APPF design problem as a minimax minimization problem involving a nonlinear minimization constraint, a new tactic for linearizing the nonlinear constraint is shown, and then a linear programming method can be employed for solving the APPF design problem. Although various linearization approaches can be considered, a typical design example is utilized for validating the improved performance. That is, this new linearization approach yields better design results than other existing options.
