Abstract
Energy efficiency is essential for all global energy transitions. It is the most available, safe and affordable energy resource in the world, and every government has the power, the ability and the desire to continuously exploit energy efficiency in order to benefit from it on a large scale. An important amount of energy is lost in the transmission and distribution system due to technological and non-technological losses. Each component of the transmission and distribution system contributes to losses. The causes of these losses are multiple. The volume of energy losses in the power transmission and distribution systems is important, as it is generally up to 3 - 13%. The volume of power losses in Romania, in the power transmission and distribution systems is one of the biggest in Europe, the level being 10,885% in 2014 compared to the European average of 6,059%.The current paper presents the research results of the authors regarding the real time monitoring of power quality and loss on the transport and distribution lines in the national power system.
