“Useless Schooling” or “Hopeless Schooling”: An Ethnographic Study of Lower-Class Rural Parents’ Perceptions on the Value of Schooling

Based on the data collected, this article proposes to use the concept of “hopeless schooling” to capture their perceptions on the value of school education. “无用的学校教育”或“无望的学校教育”:农村下层阶级家长对学校教育价值认知的民族志研究
摘要本文基于在中国中部钟县为期一年的田野调查数据,重新审视了近年来关于中国下层农村居民教育价值认知的研究中提出的“无用的学校教育”概念。本文认为,这是理解社会转型时代日益分层化的宏观社会结构变化和教育机会结构新模式的基础,是理解农村下层家长对学校教育价值观念的基础。本文运用布迪厄的“惯习”概念,将下层农村居民对学校教育的价值形成过程概念化为结构性因素内化为个体倾向的过程。基于收集到的数据,本文建议使用“无望的学校教育”的概念来捕捉他们对学校教育价值的看法。强调新兴的教育机会结构和不同社会群体对社会流动的差异化机会已经逐渐转化为对教育和社会流动的分层“期望”模式,并提出有必要在这一转型时期审视社会结构的持续固化。
