Abstract
It is controversial whether glutamate can leak out of vesicles in the nerve terminal. To address this issue, we abolished vesicular glutamate uptake by washing out presynaptic cytosolic glutamate or by blocking vacuolar ATPase activity using bafilomycin A1.
