Abstract

The skew four-bar M₁, A₁, A₂, M₂, with the fixed link M₁M₂ = g, the cranks M_iA_i = R_i rotating about the axes a_i through A_i (i = 1,2) and the coupler A₁A₂ = b, with spherical joints at A₁ and A₂, has been investigated recently by several authors.

A special case arises if the common perpendicular of a₁ and a₂ coincides with M₁M₂.

In this paper a complete discussion of the mobility is given for this case in terms of the parameters g, R₁, R₂, b and the angle α between a₁ and a₂.

Furthermore some remarks are added on the eighth order elliptic couple curve in the special and the general case.
