Abstract

The skew four-bar M1, A1, A2, M2, with the fixed link M1M2 = g, the cranks MiAi = Ri rotating about the axes ai through Ai (i = 1,2) and the coupler A1A2 = b, with spherical joints at A1 and A2, has been investigated recently by several authors.

A special case arises if the common perpendicular of a1 and a2 coincides with M1M2.

In this paper a complete discussion of the mobility is given for this case in terms of the parameters g, R1, R2, b and the angle α between a1 and a2.

Furthermore some remarks are added on the eighth order elliptic couple curve in the special and the general case.
