Abstract
A novel compact size microstrip-line fed patch antenna used for WLAN operation in the 5.2- and 5.8-GHz is proposed. The antenna consists of the horizontal “H-shapped” patch in the top side, and the I-slot patch with chamfer in the bottom side. The size of the antenna is 15mm×12mm×1mm, and the dielectric constant is 2.65. The resonant frequency of the antenna is at 5.2/5.8GHz. The simulated results is obtained, and show good dual-frequency operation, with impedance bandwidth (return loss: -10dB definition) of 110MHz (5.17~5.28GHz) and 370MHz (5.64~6.01GHz), antenna gain of 1.92dBi and 2.57dBi, respectively. The radiation pattern of dual-frequency is omnidirectional.
