Acute injuries are classified according to the modified Verdan system and the presenting symptoms, physical exam findings, and treatment strategies are discussed by zone of injury. Common chronic extensor tendon injuries are discussed as they relate to the dorsal wrist's division into six discrete fibro-osseous compartments. Abstract
