Abstract

A broadband PIFA antenna that operates in the 800-970 MHz and 1.5-5.9 GHz bands with VSWR less than 3 is proposed for wireless communications terminals. This wideband is enough to cover many of the most important mobile communications services around the world such as GSM 850/900, DCS, PCS, UMTS, WiFi, Bluetooth, WiMAX, and the major part of the LTE bands. Antenna volume of 4×2×1 cm3 is within acceptable limits for different mobile terminals including portable handheld devices and embedded WLAN antennas.
