Abstract

The magnetic material properties of amorphous metals are summarized and discussed with respect to other magnetic materials and to particular applications. It is shown that amorphous materials are superior in a number of cases. In others, technological and economic reasons have led to innovative developments of competing materials. Examples in the fields of electronics and of electrical power distributions are treated to indicate the interrelations between material development, material selection and requirements for particular applications.
