However,thescalabilityoftheseoffloadingservicesonalargescaleisstillachallenge.Thisarticle describesasolutiontothisscalabilityproblembyproposingamiddlewarethatprovidesoffloading asaservice(OAS)tolarge-scaleimplementationofmobileusersandapps.Theproposedmiddleware OAS uses adaptive VM allocation and deallocation algorithms based on a CPU rate prediction model. Furthermore, it dynamically schedules the requests using a load-balancing algorithm to ensuremeetingQoSrequirementsatalowercost.Theauthorshavetestedtheproposedalgorithm byconductingmultiplesimulationsandcomparedourresultswithstate-of-the-artalgorithmsbased onvariousperformancemetricsundermultipleloadconditions.TheresultsshowthatOASachieves betterresponsetimewithaminimumnumberofVMsandreduces50%ofthecostcomparedto existingapproaches.
