世界卫生组织(WHO)发现,世界上有6.5亿人患有某种残疾。据联合国亚洲及太平洋经济社会委员会统计,亚洲有4亿多残疾人,其中大部分没有参加各种公共活动。但是,图书馆作为社会不可分割的一部分,必须采用适当的技术和服务来照顾残疾人士的需要,使他们有平等的机会利用图书馆的服务。本文简要探讨了在图书馆环境中为残疾读者提供有效服务的可能方法。
