Recent advances in wireless sensor network technologies are fueled by latest advances in microcontrollers and radio transceivers. Efforts have been made to create low-cost open sourced environmental sensor stations and Internet of Things provide open standard protocol that can easily be integrated with various legacy open source systems. This paper proposes the usage of open standard wireless telemetry network based on Automatic Packet Reporting System (APRS) and Messaging Queue Telemetry Transport (MQTT).
