The relationship between land use and various surface elements is getting closer and closer. Suitability research is of great significance to optimize the spatial development pattern of land and regional coordinated development. This paper selects the whole area of Tongchuan City as the research object, uses 3S technology, with the aid of ArcGIS software, uses the terrain index and distribution index model to analyze the spatial distribution characteristics of land use types in Tongchuan City, and uses the comprehensive index of land use degree. Quantitative analysis of the comprehensive intensity of types, the results are objective and true, which can provide data support and decision-making basis for the rational development of the region. The research results show that: in 2015, the types of surface resources in Tongchuan were relatively complete, and the forest land and cultivated land had obvious advantages, accounting for 59.8% and 24.9% of the city’s land area, respectively.1-5, 6-8, and 9-10 three sections, among which, the low terrain interval (1-5) covers a wide range of land use types.
