Nonlinear Load Modelling for Harmonic Analysis of Aggregated Residential Loads with OpenDSS
Low Voltage residential demand is characterized by the aggregation of each individual load connected in a dwelling. This paper analyzes different load models described in bibliography for aggregated residential loads by taking into account their nonlinear behaviour in order to assess harmonic levels in distribution networks. The implementation of these models in the simulation software OpenDSS is also described. A comparison of the different load models is addressed in two different networks: the simple IEEE 4 buses test feeder and the more complete IEEE Europe Low Voltage test feeder. Conclusions are extracted about the performance of each model for their application to more complex harmonic assessments.
