Impact of economic dispatch in a smart distribution network considering demand response and power market
Smart distribution networks as the leading sort of smart distribution grids, are characterized with controllable embedded generations, demand side programs such as Responsive Loads (RLs) and Remotely Controlled Switches (RCS) which offers much flexibility in the operation of the network. This paper endeavor to develop an economic operational planning schedule for a day-ahead market based on Smart Distribution Network (SDN) considering a collaborative evaluation of dynamic pricing and peak power limiting based on Demand Response (DR) strategies. Also for the optimal cost savings, the distribution system operator (DSO) will constantly monitor the price fluctuation in power market to wisely schedule the SDN active elements and DR strategies. A case study with a 33 bus distribution system is used to illustrate the performance of the proposed method and the optimization procedure is solved using the modified particle swam optimization. The results ensures the possibility of technical and economic benefits to both customer and network. Additionally, a great improvement in network performance is achieved, and hence the upgrading of the network can be post ponded.
