The main purposes of the procedure are: to define the content and format of the software maintenance plan in order to use it for writing specific maintenance plans for projects, groups of projects, or organizations; and to describe the software maintenance tasks and processes, the maintenance environment, the relationship between software development life-cycle phases and the maintenance phase, etc. as a guide for writing a specific maintenance plan. The software maintenance procedure is written with the intention of serving a large group of people involved in embedded computer system field, such as project managers, software development team leaders, software maintenance team leaders, software engineers who are involved in the development and/or maintenance, software quality assurance engineers, and subcontractors and customers.
