Multi-dimensional Classification of the Schemes of Marine Power Generating Units
In this paper the issues of heat recovery of marine engines for different schemes of power generating units are presented. Current trends in the development of offshore infrastructure are identified. The composition of the power plants for oil and gas floating units and offshore vessels has been analyzed. The results of a comparison of power to volume ratio, power to weight ratio and efficiency for diesel and gas turbine power modules of various capacities are presented. In order to evaluate the potential of waste energy resources of marine heat engines using the thermochemical heat recovery technologies of promising fuels, a multi-dimensional classification of the schemes of marine power generating units has been developed. The application limits of the existing approaches to estimation of processes efficiency of heat recovery for different schemes of power generating units have been defined. The limitations have been identified, that are related to the influence of the main parameters of the heat recovery processes on the feasibility of thermochemical treatment of fuels depending on their properties.
