Autorretratos

The thesis addresses the issue of contemporary identity from the study of eight self-portraits of Colombian artists proposing new aesthetic categories. As a form of symbolic speculation, self-portraits today reflect the ever changing and uncertain images of ourselves. Ideas of the self, of the other, of the multiple selves and [my] others, that intermingle without changing the concept of individuality, rather like a mirage that fades and changes with the blink of an eye, it is consistently questioned by those who see it. We now find ourselves confronting multiplicity, otherness, shadows, the body, genetics, the interface and our identity.
