In EHL theory, it is generally assumed that the rolling element is subject to a constant load, but in the dynamic analysis of rolling bearings, the load is unknown. Based on geometry and position relation of rolling elements, the convergence criterion of EHL theory is modified to meet the need of dynamic analysis of rolling bearings. Then the multi-grid method is employed to study the EHL of a ball bearing.
